Wine Tasting
This weekend I went wine tasting in Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley, which is just 45 minutes north of San Francisco. We didn't have much of a plan...just randomly picked places to stop.
The first place we went was Gloria Ferrer Winery. It featured sparkling wine and a fantastic view. Of the three places we visited, this was my favorite. Next, we stopped at Nicholson Ranch and then we finished at Merryvale.
You can see the pictures here.

You should try the wine train that runs up and down Nappa Valley. You get a seven course gormet meal and enough wine to make the guy in "Sideways" seem like a teetotaler.
We took it on a rainy winter day one vacation, and it was wonderful. That was also the weekend we spent in Mendicino. I'll try an dig up the name of the inn for you.

The Stanford Inn By the Sea (http://www.stanfordinn.com/) was a cool place. A tad rustic, each room having its own wood burning stove and collection of colorful quilts (i.e. don't expect central air, etc.) The town is a great weekend vacation spot if you like rustic and quiet. Plus the drive up the coast is spectacular.

Wow! Looks like an amazing trip! Are the wine bottles as big as the chairs? :)
